Surfing was originated in Maldives in the late 70s. In 1973, Hinde Tony An Australian surfer took a break from surfing in Sri Lanka and with a friend he did set sail to Africa. Unfortunetly, It was never reaching its destination. His ship seriously was wrecked on the shore breaks of Malé. Tony discovered the pleasure of surfing reefs of Maldives. He changed his name to Tony Hussein Hinde, married a lady from the Maldives, opened his own surf agency and decided to enjoy the great surfing passion here! Well, this is a little story we pass on, we truely do have no idea of it's intergrity!
